Some procedural modes generating vertex maps are suited for animation and object deformations :

Topology Vertex Maps : offers 2 deformation modes (they require influence of a deformer object, but can generate VM without animation)
Influence Point : offers 4 dynamic modes that require an animation
Difference Map : objects deformations
PLAVelocity : points velocity
